Glass test centre
In accordance with the DIBt (German Centre of Competence for Construction) which is an authority of the German federal states and the Federation for a uniform fulfilment of technical tasks in the field of public law, the Institute of Steel Construction is recognised as an officially accredited test centre (reference number NRW53) for the following construction products and types of construction.
Construction products according to the Administrative Technical Building Regulations for the State of North Rhein-Westphalia (VV TB NRW):
- C 3.18: Prefabricated fall-preventing glass with test-determined load-bearing capacity under impact loads
- C 3.19: Point support without joint with experimentally determined load-bearing capacity
- C 3.20: Prefabricated walk-on glass with test-determined load-bearing capacity under impact and residual load-bearing capacity
Types of construction according to the Administrative Technical Building Regulations for the State of North Rhein-Westphalia (VV TB NRW):
- C 4.12: Fall-preventing glass with test-determined load-bearing capacity under impact loads
- C 4.13: Walk-on glass with load-bearing capacity determined by testing under impact and residual load-bearing capacity
Test centre for the accreditation of scaffolding
The Institute of Steel Construction is recognised by the Deutsches Institut für Bautechnik as a test centre for scaffolding. It is responsible for investigating the behaviour of scaffold planks under vertical and horizontal loading, as part of general building authority approvals for scaffolding.
